Congratulations to Dr. Daria Zorzi, pictured on the left with Dr. Melton, for winning the Trinkle-Banowsky Abstract Competition Award. Dr. Zorzi is a research fellow at UTMB in Galveston, and her sponsor is Dr. Luca Cicalese. Her abstract was titled, "Safety Guidelines to Resume Transplant Activities after Major Natural Disaster".
Congratulations also to Stephanie Yi, MD, (pictured on the right) who won the 2011 Case Presentation Competition. She is a general surgery resident at The Methodist Hospital in Houston and her sponsor is Dr. Sherilyn Gordon-Burroughs. The title of her winning case presentation was "Liver Transplantation as an Effective Therapy for Cholangiocarcinoma in the Setting of Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis".
TTS would like to thank Dr. Alex Duarte, Dr. Judson Hunt, Dr. Francis Wright, Dr. Dale Dunn, and Jennifer Milton, BSN, CCTC, MBA, for their time and service on the TTS Executive Board. We understand that a 3-year term is a pretty hefty time commitment, and appreciate these members for serving faithfully. Special thanks to Roger W. Evans, PhD, who presented the Ernest Hodge, MD, Lecture, and also to Bruce Kaplan, MD, who presented the Paul Peters Lecture. Of note, Dr. Evans spoke 15 years ago at the TTS Meeting in South Padre and was the Paul Peters presenter that year. I guess we'll have to add a third named lecture in order to have him back in a few years.
